Schleuniger Helps PC Systems Overcome Multi-Strip Challenges

Schleuniger Helps PC Systems Overcome Multi-Strip Challenges
06/09/2015
“All of PCS will agree, a big advantage that Schleuniger has over its competitor is customer service."

As a designer and manufacturer of wire harnesses and cable assemblies, PC Systems Inc. has a very diverse workload. The company is able to support everything from custom one piece programs to high volume OEM platforms and supplies products to a vast range of industries including automotive, medical, military and more. The company has utilized wire processing equipment since its founding in 2001 and continued to acquire pieces throughout the years from various suppliers.

In 2011, PC Systems purchased their first piece of Schleuniger equipment. “Economically, it made the most sense to move forward with Schleuniger,” says Scott O'Donnell, Production Supervisor.

With the implementation of Schleuniger equipment, PC Systems was able to solve some of their more challenging processing issues, including unique multi-strip requirements and have achieved measurable productivity gains. Among the most successful has been a program developed by Schleuniger for the OmniStrip 9450 cut and strip machine specifically for PC Systems to perform multiple strip operations per piece of multi-conductor cable. This feature eliminated the task of manually marking the cable at specific overmold locations, yielding an estimated 33% decrease in overall part processing time.

Today, Schleuniger equipment has been implemented throughout PC Systems and is used for every existing application. According to Kevin Genevro, Engineering Manager, “All of PCS will agree, a big advantage that Schleuniger has over its competitor is customer service. Our local representative leads a team that provides unparalleled technical support and is available to PCS whenever necessary.”
