A Special Kind of Prize Giving

Schleuniger is one of the best US employers

Schleuniger attaches great importance in creating a motivating working atmosphere. High-level employee information, open communication and a respectful interaction at all levels coins the day to day business. With the motto “Have fun and get the job done” the members of Schleuniger USA happily approach their daily tasks and deliver above-average performance.

This has now been rewarded. Our American subsidiary Schleuniger, Inc. (NH) was honored in Washington, D.C. on June 26, 2006 in front of 12,000 guests, as one of the 25 Best US Employers in the category “Small Companies – 50 - 250 employees.” This important award is presented yearly by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). The Schleuniger employees are extremely proud of this honorable award.

The list of the leading 25 small and medium sized companies was published for the third time. In total a few hundred companies took part in the competition. With 54 employees, Schleuniger USA was the smallest contender.

The winning companies with 50 - 999 employees were evaluated and named by the American Great Place to Work® Institute (GPTW) and the American Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). The results were based on a random employee survey. Each evaluated company was awarded points based on the answers provided by the employees on company culture at the work place.

The prize awarded for the “Best Company to Work for” is of great importance because growth, turnover or profit are not the central issues only, the emphasis is on company culture, team spirit, employee satisfaction and working conditions. For a Swiss company in the USA to be awarded with such a prize proves that Schleuniger’s company culture is able to compete internationally.

“Small and middle sized companies represent the majority of the American economy and they employ the largest part of the American working force,” says Susan R. Meisinger, SPHR President and CEO-SHRM. “Leading businesses show that efficient use of the working force is the key to success. We recognize and award exactly these companies for their performance.”

Background information on the winning companies appear in the July issue of the HR Magazine, the company’s most important magazine with a circulation of 200,000 copies. The winning companies are also listed on the GPTW Website.
