New CrimpCenter Options

The new CrimpCenter machines (for 4 and 5 stations respectively) were introduced for the first time at the Schleuniger OpenHouse 2006 in June.

The electronic Splice Control is now available. This option will detect splices in the wire even at the machine’s maximum feed rates. (A wire splice is when the conductors of two separate pieces of wire are wrapped together).

Another new option is the Split Cycle Function with wire centering grippers for closed-barrel terminal applications. This system allows closed barrel applications to be processed at unrivalled speeds.

The STS 1000 Tinning Station for lead free soldering with a twisting station can be integrated on all CrimpCenters. This new system is in compliance with ROHS lead-free standards that have been in effect in Europe since July 1, 2006.

The PSU 60 Post Strip Unit makes processing hard shell seal applications fast and efficient. For automotive harnesses, seal-loading applications with hard jacket seals are becoming more prevalent. These seals require a partial strip of the conductor ends before loading the seal. The insulation is removed after the seal is positioned on the wire with the new PSU 60. This compact unit minimizes swivel arm movement and provides an optimal process flow with unmatched production performance.

Seal refill during production is possible with an optional modification of the CrimpCenter’s safety cover: a plastic tube that leads to the sealing station allows seals to be refilled without opening the safety cover.

The absolute highlight in optimizing your production is the EASY ProductionServer.

The EASY ProductionServer software product is built as a production order manager into the CrimpCenter network and allows simple, quick and intuitive application management with drag&drop functions. EASY ProductionServer uses Ethernet (TCP/IP) international IT standard technology which is available worldwide for the Internet. Next to standard networking it can be customized according to customers needs.

Central production order management with EASY ProductionServer

Thanks to networking, information such as production planning, quality control areas, production machinery and working areas can be managed without paperwork. From the ERP Systems, e.g. SAP, application data in Excel format can be imported to the EASY ProductionServer. The software then allows central creation of production orders and optimized distribution to the individual CrimpCenters. Production data, quality control data and safety information are automatically sent back to the main PC where the data can be analyzed and saved centrally.

Thus a considerable part of the planning and input of activities are centrally processed while the machines are in production. Consequently, production is continually optimized.
