Insertion Loss Testing Device
The OptiTest 10 is a high precision testing device for measuring the insertion loss of Plastic Optical Fiber (POF) cables. A unique ferrule centering system, sophisticated electronics and software combine to provide a measuring accuracy of +/- 0.02 dB.
The OptiTest 10 determines the optical loss of the POF cable to be tested by comparing its dB loss to that of a reference or "golden" fiber. Inserting the POF cable into the device triggers the test cycle. The connectors are centered and locked into position while measurement is taken. The measured value is displayed on a PC and filed in a log file. A special version of Schleuniger's WinCrimp software is used for data collection and analysis. Other measuring devices such as the PosiTest 15 can easily be integrated to form a quality assurance network.

Maximum Precision
Both male and female MOST ferrules can be tested without any tooling change-over, while the maximum offset of test sample to measuring optics never exceeds +/- 0.015 mm (0.001''). Cables that do not meet preset insertion loss values remain locked in the centering system until they are manually released by a key switch.

The OptiTest 10 can be fully integrated in the POF Center 70 automatic POF processing machine for quality testing.
